Review : A sleek external hard disk
I wanted a compact external drive for backing up my files. I had some criteria it had to meet

* It had to be about a terrabyte
* Prefer not to lug around external power supply
* Compact enough to carry around
* Reasonable price
* USB connection

With these in mind, I trawled what was available on Amazon. There were many external drives available, but the Buffalo HD-PCTU2 Ministation fitted the bill.

It is a 1.0TB drive that runs entirely off an USB 2.0 connection. So no awkward external power supply to clutter up the place. On the packaging is states 'No 1 sales in Japan'. So they are obviously very popular and must be doing something right to reach that position.

On opening the package, you are presented with a sleek, piano black box that fits comfortably in the hand. It is very light, 210g, so it is easy to carry around. The only connection to it is the mini USB connector tucked away in a top corner.
