Review : Quality and construction
My initial impression was that his was a poor quality product. The instructions were some of the worst I have come across and the mains adaptor fell apart in my hands. There is therefore a question of electrical safety. I did mange to clip the adaptor together and now believe it is safe, if used with caution. After a number of trials and errors, working out how to find my way around the menu I managed to scan and save images. Comparing these with a rather old but high quality slide scanner they were of higher quality. The colours reproduced with this device were close to the original requiring little correction. I am therefore satisfied that the device performs as specified but has some questions as to the build quality.

12/8/12 - After much research on the web, I recently I bought a Plustek OpticFilm 8200i SE Film Scanner from Amazon to convert my old 35mm slides and some negative film to digital format.

The item was delivered promptly and upon opening the box was just what I required, a scanner with a small footprint. All good so far.

Following the instructions I installed the printer drivers and associated software, SilverFast 8 SE Plus processing package. Silverfast 8 SE Plus was one of the main reasons I bought this item as it comes highly praised.

The scanner worked fine with the supplied drivers and Plustek scanning software, but when I attempted to use Silverfast 8 SE Plus the problems began. Basically the program won't run. Thinking that I had perhaps made an error in the installation procedure I uninstalled and reinstalled the complete package. I ordered this Film and Photo scanner on 3rd February and received it from Germany via UPS at lunchtine on the 6th February, although Amazon told me it would be delivered on the 11th Feb. Superb service!!
I have used other 35mm scanners with not very good results (ie poor colour mostly), however with this scanner I have had very good results so far. The scanner uses a digital camera and the clarity and colour of the scans are good and is quick to scan (approximately 2 seconds per scan), although the files can be enhanced through software like Picassa 3.
All in all I can say for the price I would suggest this is a good value product that produces good results.

Review : Agfaphoto Digital photo scanner
Wanted a scanner to transfer all my non digital photo's of my children taken pre 2001. I did quite a bit of research and this seemed the simplest option. I have now scanned about 300 photographs ( with probably 2000+ still to go )the photo's are simply inserted into the machine as you would do with a laminator. They are scanned onto SD card in a second or so, I bought a 2 gb card from Amazon and this seems easily up to the job. I have never yet filled the SD card but after scanning a 100 or so photographs I simply connect the scanner to my PC using the USB cable provided and drag and drop the photographs into Windows. Th quality of the scans would not be up to professional standards but is perfectly adequate to convert family snapshots into digital format and I would definately recommend it for this purpose. The only other point I would make is that I used an ordinary SD card as no where could I find any menntion that this scanner supports SDHC...

Review : Good but slow process for slides
I recently found numerous boxes of slides at my parents house and decided to scan them in.
After reading several reviews, this scanner was one of the better rated, especially as you can scan 16 slides at a time.
The image quality is very good, but the time to scan is slow. It makes one pass to show a "contact sheet" and small images, then when you press save, it scans each slide individually again.
I haven't timed it accurately but talking 5+ mins.

Also, the Drivers CD for Max OS X isn't supported, but its easy enough to download from the HP website.
Finally criticism is naming/numbering. When you save the images it starts as image.jpg, image1.jpg, image2.jpg etc.
Once you have scanned 16 slides and load the next batch, it says "file already exists, replace?".
Would have been better if it carried on, i.e. image17.jpg. (Only a small gripe)

If you have the time to spare, then for the quality, very good.

Review : A superb scanner that does the job and then some
I've used Epson scanners for years and been very pleased with their performance. However, the V750 is not just good, it's outstanding. I wanted a scanner that would do a good job of scanning 35mm trannies as well as the usual stuff, but I couldn't justify the cost of a dedicated film scanner. None of the scanners I've had in the past have been any more than passable in this respect, but the V750 Pro does a remarkable job, producing crisp scans that rival those of all but the really high-end film scanners (it does everything else pretty damn well too). My only real gripe is the fact that the fluid mount is not included with the V750 Pro in the UK - it has to be obtained separately from Epson, and nowhere on their website are we told how to do this (at least, I haven't been able to find anything). However, if you contact Epson UK they will send you the mount free of charge - but I had to do some searching on the internet to find this out, eventually making this discovery via an online...

Bought this after much deliberation over slide/film scanners and after reading the review, plumpted for this to scan in all my late fathers slides etc. I must say what a superb piece of kit, I second everything that the first reviewer has wrote about it, it is so easy and quick to use, after charging up the mobile phone sized battery and installing a SD card your away to go, even able to alter the exposure valve and primary colours of each slide and the scanned output is amazing. Found some 46yr old negative strips looking in a very poor state, and after scanning I am amazed with the quality even with NO post photo touching up - yet. Don't want to give up using it!! The scanner itself is fine. Does exactly what it says on the tin, and I have 30 years of kodachromes, velvias and negatives of various types to chomp onto the pooter. My missis doesn't quite know what my birthday present was letting her in for - middle-aged-bloke-with-a-computer-widow!

Silverfast Ai is frustrating to install. It took an hour of big-red-switches, reboots and retries before the software suddenly found the scanner. Persist with it. The interface is awful, the manual worse, but once mastered it delivers a rich set of features.

Important point to note. The colour profiles apply only to negatives - so your velvias will still contain red-faced people basking under purple-tinged skies.

The frequency with which you need to change the cartridges and their extortionate cost forced me down the laser printer avenue some 2 years ago. This year, however, I have needed a printer just to print off proof copies of my work and, being away from home (and the laser printer), I was persuaded by my local printer shop to plump for this one. I was reluctant to buy it, even at its very reasonable price, but I have not looked back since. Bearing in mind that I only need this printer to run off drafts of my essays (and nothing else), the print quality is very good, the cartridges last for approx 600+ pages (I am making this assertion on the fact that I have gone through a ream and a bit of paper and will shortly need to replace the black cartridge) and the price of replacing them is pleasingly cheap. Light and easy to move around, with this printer the cartridges are broken down into black, yellow, blue and red and you can replace each... I wanted a scanner which was compact (I don't have much space at home, and any new gadget must pass the Mrs test of space utilisation) but was still good quality. When looking for something like this, I assumed I'd have to find a scanner which would scan to PDF file and then I'd have to have use Evernote to import them. This goes one better... it has direct Evernote integration. I press the button (only one) on the scanner, feed in the sheets I want to scan and press the button again when I'm finished. The way I have it set up is that the PDF file (OCR and text searchable) is right there in Evernote! All I need to do it give the Note a title. It's just so unbelievably simple. I can change this setup so it scans a PDF or JPG to a given folder, or into iPhoto or into Pages - or pretty much any other combination I wanted. It's extremly flexible, and does exactly what I want. As it turned out, it was very useful in my mass scanning exercise to have two, as I could load one while passing the other one full of slides through the scanner. If you don't have a large number of slides / a lot of film to scan, you'll probably be ok with the slide carrier / film adapter which come with the scanner. I was prepared to accept the slower throughput, compared with a dedicated scanner, as long as the image quality was acceptable. In this respect the V330 does not disappoint. All the software installed without problems and the applications I have used so far have been stable running under XP Home Edition SP3. I find inserting and removing slides from the holder slightly fiddly but am getting better with practice. I decided to use a resolution which produces file sizes comparable with a 4 megapixel digital camera and found the image quality to be excellent. I would have given this product 5 stars but for an annoying failing of the scanning utility: When scanning slides this first executes a Preview scan then displays the slides as a series of thumbnails. Works in Mac Lion and Mountain Lion I do quite a lot of scanning - it's part of how I work as an illustrator.
